MOVE Program-National Charity School Dubai

Celebrating one year of the MOVE program for 250 high school students from the National Charity School Dubai. The MOVE is a one year program designed to empower underprivileged teens with the skills they need to succeed in their future careers as well as make a difference in their own communities.  Here are some of the highlights!

  • Over 70 students participated in public speaking competitions with some fantastic results!
  • Students conducted community projects to improve their school as well as learn vital skills such as leadership, responsibility and teamworking. Some of the results were:
    • Three recycling campaigns planned and implemented by the students in the girls, boys, and primary sections of the school
    • A new sitting area constructed in the boys’ section, complete with benches, tables and green plants.
    • A new garden in the girls’ section
    • A traditional UAE heritage tent in the girls’ section which will serve as a showcase of Arabic culture as well as an enjoyable place for the students to sit in and relax.

A special thanks to all the volunteers who helped assist with their time and expertise for these projects.

I must start by saying that I was very hesitant to participate and be a volunteer as I have never been involved in something like this. But doing so has totally changed my thinking. It opened my eyes to see that it was fun being surrounded by children who are so enthusiastic in wanting to learn so much more of not just a language but also interacting with us, all from totally different cultures and background. Yes, I am so glad that I did volunteer, even if I have not made a great impact on their lives, they definitely left me walking out that night with a smile on my face and sweet memories that I will carry with me for a long time. Thank you Action Care for giving me this opportunity.
